Centreless grinding is a precise machining process that removes material from the exterior of bars or tubes without the need for centring the workpiece. Unlike traditional grinding methods, this technique does not require the workpiece to be fixed in place. Instead, the workpiece is guided between a stationary grinding wheel and a regulating wheel, allowing for the efficient processing of long bars or tubes. At M Precision Grinding, we have the capability to grind items up to 15 metres in length. |

A workblade is situated below the workpiece to give support whilst the grinding process is being carried out, it is the skill of the operator in setting up to ensure the grinding wheel, control wheel and workblades are all correctly aligned that enables the grinding process to achieve the optimum cut. Depending on the type of material being ground there will be many ‘passes’ though the machine with each pass taking off fractions each time until the required, very tight tolerance is achieved. By ensuring the correct grinding wheel is used for the type of material being ground, along with very tight dimensional tolerances, very tight surface finishes can be achieved to meet the most exacting of requirements. |
